The International Lutheran-Orthodox Dialogue (November 12, 2024_Event)

You are invited to a discussion on the history and the development of The International Lutheran-Orthodox Dialogue, featuring His Eminence Isaias, Metropolitan of Tamassos (Cyprus), and Prof. Jennifer Wasmuth, University of Göttingen (Germany). Relations between the Lutheran World Federation began with the Ecumenical Patriarchate as early as 1967, while the international Lutheran-Orthodox Joint Commission met for the first time in Finland, in 1981. Since then, several joint statements have been issued on various topics, such as “Salvation: Grace, Justification and Synergy” (1998), “Baptism and Chrismation as Sacraments of Initiation into the Church” (2004), and most recently on “The Holy Spirit, the Church, and the World” (2019–2024), including a statement on the “filioque”.
