In early December, the Huffington Ecumenical Institute at HCHC had the honor of welcoming the Honorable Michael Huffington, who met with George Cantonis, President of Hellenic College, and the leadership staff of HEI. Discussion centered around the programs and plans of the Institute, while Mr. Huffington toured the facility that is currently being remodeled to house the Institute.

Michael Huffington was received into the Orthodox Church in 1986 and has been a long supporter of educational and ecumenical organizations, founding the Huffington Ecumenical Institute at Loyola Marymount and, more recently the Huffington Ecumenical Institute at Hellenic College–Holy Cross School of Theology.

HEI at HCHC is founded on two mutually inclusive pillars: Ecumenical Dialogue and Theological Scholarship. In alignment with Mr. Huffington’s vision for the Institute, it plans an extensive list of events and courses over the next two years.

About the HEI

The Huffington Ecumenical Institute at Hellenic College Holy Cross seeks to facilitate and advance dialogue with other churches and faiths, particularly around theological and ethical, as well as pastoral and practical dimensions of contemporary issues and social challenges of our time. It strives to explore and express the fundamental ethos of the Orthodox Church in open encounters and honest engagement with other confessions and communities.
