THE MONK AND THE CELL – The story of the desert of Mount Athos.

Meet Elder Nektarios, a hieromonk from the Skete of St. Anne (just near what is called “the desert”) of Mt. Athos. A monk for over 40 years, he is the Elder of the historic cell of the Holy Cross, the oldest hermitage on Mt. Athos with uninterrupted monastic presence since the 1600s.

Dr. Nikos Dimitriadis teaches World Religions at the American College of Thessaloniki as well as Ecology and Ethics in a Master‘s Program in Ecumenical Theology. He is President of the Center of Ecumenical, Missiological, and Environmental Studies (CEMES) at Thessaloniki, GR.
