Persecution Economies: Violence and the Transnational Politics of Migration Between the Middle East and the United States.

We are very excited to invite you to the first lecture in Sarah Riccardi-Swartz’s Global Orthodoxy and International Politics Lab @ Northeastern University, on September 19th, 2024 at Northeastern University Boston campus. Candice Lukasik, Assistant Professor of Religion at Mississippi State University, will give a talk titled “Persecution Economies: Violence and the Transnational Politics of Migration Between the Middle East and the United States.” This talk will examine how Coptic and Assyrian communities are shaped by, and respond, to local and global forces of authoritarianism and imperial intervention that perpetuate violence and propel migration.
