Known globally as the “Green Patriarch,” His All-Holiness has been a pioneering advocate for environmental stewardship, emphasizing the spiritual and moral responsibility to protect our planet. His leadership has inspired countless individuals and communities to view ecological preservation as a sacred duty.

Upon receiving news of the award, Fr. John Chryssavgis, Executive Director of the Huffington Ecumenical Institute at Hellenic College Holy Cross and Theological Advisor to the Ecumenical Patriarch on environmental issues, remarked:
